#2: The Second One

I’m playing with writing up some lessons I learned from my time at a startup during college, but there’s so much to talk about. My first challenge is it was almost a 3 full years ago. My memories are pretty fuzzy at this point. I want to be as accurate as I can, but at this point it’s mostly my memories of memories. What’s in my head is probably an exaggeration of mis-remembered events. I’ll probably break it down into little pieces instead of trying to write ‘The Ballad of HungerPerks’

So when I started to hit a wall with the HungerPerks article, I wanted to switch to a different topic, but I realized that I have no idea what I want to write about next!

In the past I’ve used a (30x500)[https://stackingthebricks.com/] method called ‘Sales Safari’ to collect ideas on what to write about. But it’s been about 4 months since I’ve worked on any articles, so I don’t remember any of what I did before!

I took some time in the middle of the week to pull all my safari notes into notion. I went through a bunch of my notes and categorized them.

I’m really happy with the setup I have now in notion, both for work and for side project stuff.

I have lot of topics I can write about, but almost all of them are focused on really general problems that very new programmers have. The problem is, they’re not really topics I feel very drawn to write about at the moment!

So now my next step is to use my shiny new notion system and collect some topics that would be fun to write about.

Fleets! Twitter got stories this week, called Fleets. They dropped on Wednesday, and for about a day my feed was non-stop tech people complaining. I have to say though, I absolutely love fleets. I have a hard time sharing stuff because I overthink whether it’s something that’s useful to share. Fleets is now my designated dumping ground for dumb stuff, and I feel absolutely no need to filter myself there. I love it!

I’m really enjoying weeknotes as an accountability tool! Now that I actually have a weekly reminder I should have an easier time remembering up sit down and write it!
